The Log Tobacco Barn
is a large steam engine which provided energy to operate numerous farm functions.
came from the boyhood home of Les Turnage, one of our founders.
built in the 1890’s, was moved from the David T. House farm near Flat Swamp Church in Pitt County. This barn has one single furnace with flues around the inside.
Here at the Eastern Carolina Village and Farm Museum, our interpretation of farm life between 1840 and 1940 focuses on the realities of the hard lives endured by many trying to make a living in the rural countryside. All photographers need to read the policy for Eastern Carolina Village & Farm Museum and fill out the application
sheet. Then call 252-756-5432 to set up an appointment with a Village representative who must be present for any photography session. The application and fees should be given to the rep before the session begins. Thank you for your interest in the Village and your co-operation.
